Bouquet of the Week
August 3, 2017
Zinnias, Sunflowers, Oriental Lilies, Lisianthus, Ageratum, Plume Celosia, Rudbeckia triloba
August is the beginning of the late season on our Kentucky flower farm, when the real warm season crops finally begin to assert themselves. Cockscomb and plume celosias will be a big part of our flower palette from now until October, and this week we're seeing the first flush of tuberose beginning to send up flower stalks.
It may be just the early birds who see them this week, but we always look forward to the first tuberose of the season. Like the earliest sweet corn, or the first vine-ripened tomatoes, tuberoses are an eagerly anticipated seasonal treasure.
Tuberose is a beautiful, tall, elegant flower with pure white flowers and a heavenly scent. They should be available from now until the first frost.
Come and see what the summer has to offer this week at the Bardstown Road Farmers Market!
We hope to see you there,
